10 viewsMore roof. I know that I have phtographed a lot of roofs here but really they are the best part of the building. They are incredibly ornate and are intentionally the most expressive part of the building. The Japanese are intrigued by shadows and so all of the livable space is supposed to happen beneath the massive roofs, in shadow.

14 viewsA stretch of the walk through 10,000 tori gates. The entire walk took about an hour and a half and there was not one moment when we were not within view of a tori gate. This stretch had them packed in but there were sections that were much more sparse.
